12th January - Growing Up

12th January - Growing Up

I celebrate my passage.

I celebrate my passage from childhood to adult.  It was quite a struggle but I made it through those stormy seas of uncertainty in one piece!

As a child, growing up was not something I wanted to do.  All I had to do was take a good look at the adults in my life.  They always seemed tired, unhappy and hassled.  If that was what was in store of me, I wanted no part of it.

I know today that maturity doesn't mean the death of my inner child.  Maturity means that I can gain insight from my experiences.  Maturity means that I can balance the spontaneous and the rational, my child within with my adult wisdom.

Today I celebrate my adulthood.
